Techno Clubbers November 2009 update plus my very first podcast!

What’s up Party People, it’s me, Zaki Q, with the latest news in the world of Electronic Music.

November is here, and so are some really exciting events. On Saturday Nov 7th, Darude will be at BoMA. RSVP on my guestlist here: . He always put up a great show, I’ve seen him live before. $5 off on my guestlist at the door.

On Wednesday Nov 18th, Above & Beyond will be here at BoMA! I’m not sure who all is coming, but Paavo, Tony, and Jono are all amazing DJs, and you cannot miss this event. They have just been announced #4 DJ in the world in the TOP100DJS poll by DJMAG for 2009 for the 2nd year in a row. RSVP on facebook here. I have their latest compilation “Anjunabeats Volume 7” and it is very good. I love to listen to their new single “Anjunabeach” and “Inrufushi” by Super8 & Tab. $5 off my guestlist at the door.

The biggest event of this month will be of course my fellow frenchman DAVID GUETTA at BoMA on Thanksgiving, Thursday Nov 26th. RSVP on facebook here. I am so excited for this. I drove all the way to Chicago last year just to see him. It was one of the best events I have ever been to. His new album “One Love” is great. I have the (Exclusive Extended + DJ-Friendly Edition) from Beatport and I love it. I have many favorite songs on this album, but I adore “How Soon is Now” and “Memories”. Have your thanskgiving dinner, then hurry up to BoMA for one unforgettable night. I think this is the first time he comes to Ohio.

All my facebook events have links to artists’ websites, myspace, twitter, and where you can buy pre-sale tickets if you want from Wantickets.com and Groovetickets.com .

Recently, I have been listening to many new albums. There’s “Anjunabeats Volume 7” from Above & Beyond as I already mentioned. There’s Dash Berlin’s new album called “The New Daylight” with tracks like “Man on the Run” and “Waiting”. I finally got my hands on Calvin Harris’ “Ready For the Weekend” which is really good. I really like Fedde le Grand’s “Output” album with tracks like “Let me be Real” (YouTube link). In fact I think we should get him to come to BoMA soon. Another exciting release is Ferry Corsten’s “Twice in a Blue Moon Remixed” which is fantastic. It’s coming out in 1-2 weeks.

Just a few days ago, DJMAG had its annual party for the TOP100DJs poll. Here are the top 10:

video from before the Nike+ Human Race 10K started

Here's a video I took before the Nike+ Human Race 10K started. They said there were about 3,500 people there, but as you can see from the video, it only looks like about a thousand if you ask me. [YouTube link]

ran the Nike+ Human Race 10K last night at OSU

So I did it. I had a horrible race time, but I did it. I ran my first 10K. Nike says about 3,500 people were running at OSU, but honestly I didn't see more than a thousand. It was raining, and it was somewhat cold. I felt pretty warm during the run though. I finished it in about 1hr42min, but Nike+ said I needed to run 400meters still. So I walked that, and that's why my time was 1hr47min on the website. Here's the info about my Nike+ run. I wore my 2 ankle stabilizers, which definitely helped. My heart rate was beating way too fast throughout the run, and I had to walk a few times. My overall pace was around 16min per mile. I was having a hard time running, and paradoxically the 2nd half of the run was easier, maybe it was those amazing tracks by Tiesto that I was listening to.

I learned a lot last night. Finishing this race just makes me want to train harder. I really have to work hard if I want to accomplish my next goal: a half marathon in May 2010. I have 6 months to train. I really want my pace to be less than 15min per mile for that.

I took a video at the race before we started running, but I am having issues trying to upload it. I will try again later.

Thank you for following my 4 week adventure up until this race. Follow me as I attempt my first half marathon in May 2010.

less than 24 hours until the Nike+ Human Race 10K at OSU

the race is less than 24 hours away. I spent most of today backing up my data, reformatting the hard drive, then installing Windows 7, which is amazing. I'm so glad I won't have to ever look at Windows Vista ever again. I did go to the gym, stretched, steam room and hot tub to relax. For lunch I had rice, vegetables and a small steak. For dinner I had a huge spaghetti meal.

According to weather.com, the weather in Columbus, OH at 7pm friday will be "Few Showers" and "63F" with 30% chance of rain. 15mph wind.

I will wear a long sleeve shirt, with my race shirt on top of it. I will either wear long pants or shorts. I do not know yet, it will be cold and raining. I will try to carry my digital camera to take videos before, during, and after the race if possible.

Wish me luck! As a new runner who's only been training for a month, I will be happy with a time of under 1hr30min!

2 more days until the Nike+ Human Race at Ohio State University

Even though the weather was not that great, I decided to go to the park again. I still wore my ankle stabilizers. I ran 1.01 on 10/21/2009 at 6:51 PM with a pace of 12'39''/mi. More info about this nike+ run here.I then went to the gym and ran 1.01 mi on 10/21/2009 at 7:50 PM with a pace of 13'03"/mi (treadmill). More info about this nike+ run here. Afterwards, workout (chest and triceps, legs, sit-ups). After that, swimming for a few laps, and hot tub.

Today I was listening to Ferry Corsten's radio show Corsten's Countdown #121 on my ipod.

For lunch, I had mixed vegetables and spaghetti leftovers. For dinner I had a salad then rice, salmon, and vegetables with half a glass of orange juice.

Only 2 more days for the Nike+ Human Race at OSU!
